Euromed 2014, Limassol - Cyprus
3 - 8 November 2014
The 5th EuroMed2014 brought together researchers, policy makers, professionals and practitioners to explore some of the more pressing issues concerning cultural heritage today. In particular, the main goal of the conference was to focus on interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research on tangible and intangible Cultural Heritage, the use of cutting edge technologies for the protection, restoration, preservation, massive digitalization, documentation and presentation of the CH content. At the same time, the event was intended to cover topics of research ready for exploitation, demonstrating the acceptability of new sustainable approaches and new technologies by the user community, SME’s, owners, managers and conservators of cultural patrimony.
During the conference a CULTURAL DIGITAGE INTERNATIONAL EXPO was in place. It was an important initiative among the activities scheduled the International Conference on Cultural Heritage EUROMED 2014. Essentially, it was audiovisual exhibition in which the results from the highest quality research involving the application of 3D for the protection and promotion of the cultural heritage carried out by different international research centers and companies in recent years. It includes a rich collection of audiovisual projects focused on archaeological and cultural heritage virtual reconstructions that help us visualize cities and environments from our past; a past which has been lost over the centuries. Moreover, this exhibition is an interesting reference for interdisciplinary projects, in which the research in Humanities comes together with other professionals from different fields of science and technology, thus promoting new ways and formats of cultural diffusion. Such cultural and archaeological sites, which are valuable but still difficult to understand as a whole, come to life again showing their greatness, functionality and the colors from past times; pieces of our heritage, which are now presented to us in a dynamic way but keeping to the requirements of science, help us understand the historical importance of some major places in past times.
